A3 OBVIOUS AND ELUSIVE

OBVIOUS AND ELUSIVE

I. NOTIONS OF ABSURDITY
Family conflicts are messy because a mere whim will prompt someone to change sides. Intelligence agencies could learn from East Texas families about the handling and distribution of information, misinformation, and gossip. One’s acts should define their words. East Texas families and churches seem to use the word ‘family’ without any regard for its application. The American Culture has diluted the Church and a selfish distance has torn the family. Loyalty, character, ideals, and integrity have become nothing more than a quaint inconvenience of words. The Mafia should consider suing Texas families and churches for defamation of character in regard to the use of the word ‘family’.

The belief was that his Dad entered dementia some years back. He may have been adept at hiding it and those around would never dare or care enough to question the matter. It becomes numbing to believe that your Dad could be so evil because he had always been a good man. It is reflex to reassess family memories. Doubt rises and ashes fall upon foundations that were once eternal. The new view of your life now equates into a lie and that is unsettling.

II. AN INCOMPLETE PAST
He had often stated that there were few mysteries in his life, save for the mystery of his own life. The truth is inescapable. Something out of place or a missing element will cause the indistinct to trouble you until the acceptance, arrival, or revelation of the truth. Through out his life, there were pale matters that never reached distinction. Something did not fit and these missing elements would rise and then dissipate back into the mind. The intuitive nudge of an equation not adding up became the perpetual ghost of his haunting. A life lived among phantoms. Is it any wonder that Kurt Godel’s Incompleteness Theorem would draw him in because of an untouched familiarity? The incomplete loomed as a shadow over his existence and shadows roam until a lie is confessed.

He treated the details of his Dad’s childhood as something made of gold. He garnered those facts and there were not enough of them. Just before the world of his family imploded, a cousin had told him a tale about an incident that happened when they were children. The timing of this information was impeccable.

III. CLUES TRACE THE PSYCHO
It is decades ago and he is listening to his Mum’s sisters. His Sister was born a few months back and that is the reason for his Aunties visit. They remark upon how long his parents will keep this child. According to them, they can only love one child at a time. He notes the puzzling nature of the comment and folds it into the kept recesses of his heart.

It is the winter of 2010, these months are leading to his Sister’s divorce. The word ‘narcissist’ is tossed frequently tossed around in regard to his Sister’s husband. Much is said and his Brother remarks on one of these statements about narcissists not having relevant conversations.

It is the end of 2011 and his Uncle's funeral procession left the church. His Dad and brother desired to fight as they were en route to the cemetery. The instigation to fight continued after the funeral. He did not take the bait. He had voice recorders on because his intuition suspected something being wrong. This was the first assault attempt. When it was over, he walked across the pasture to his Uncle’s wake. His relatives told him stories about his family that he had either forgotten, placed aside, or they were never heard.

A few months later, three weeks are spent with his oldest friend dying in a hospice. After death, his Dad and brother have him pinned to the kitchen floor. His brother tries to pry his eyeball out of the socket and now the beating has been successfully administered. The second assault attempt was successful and this comes from a 'fine Christian family.’

IV. NEEDLESS

The sad thing is that therapy was almost complete. All had been forgiven, issues had been settled, and he just wanted to get on with life. The delusions of his Dad will make it all impossible. It is all so needless, but the deliriums of his Dad will keep him here. He will suffer in ways that were never imagined. He will come to understand stark poverty. He will know what it is like to be a pariah. He will truly understand starvation and the loveless state. He will see the worst that mankind has to offer. He will be trapped here. All that he held dear will be stolen, sold, and gone. Betrayal comes from all sides. This is the nature of dread.

nonAtomas 3
Atoma is a Greek word that means `indivisible'. The English word `atom' comes from `atoma'. The notion of family is a foundation for society. A family's strength resides in the glue that holds them together. Love has its wisdom, abiding loyalties, and love is indivisible. Love is glue, atoma. Non- atoma families make breaking worlds. This has been the League of Dread.
